Our Priorities

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..." Matthew 19:14

Sovereign Grace Church is thankful to God for His gift of covenant children. We believe our children are members of our church and under the care of our shepherds. We also believe parents are responsible for discipling their children. So we desire to train men to be the fathers, and women to be the mothers, that God has called them to be. This is our first priority in children’s ministry. Our second priority is to see our children become involved in the life of the body. We desire to see them fully participate in corporate worship as they are able to, and we have Sunday school options during corporate worship to help care for children during the service. Our third priority is to provide quality, age-appropriate, biblical education for our children. We do that each week in our Sunday School program, and in a catechism class for the youth taught by our ministers and elders.  These classes are designed to supplement Corporate worship and the training parents are doing at home with their children.

Our Programs

Sunday School Hour

Before the worship service, we offer a seasonal pre-service Sunday School program for children. Childcare is available for toddler-aged children, while preschool through 4th grade students participate in age-appropriate Bible classes. Each class is committed to teaching sound doctrine and helping children grow in their understanding of God’s Word. Our younger children use Great Commission Publications curriculum, and our older students study the creeds and confessions of the Christian faith—learning the rich truths that have guided the church through the centuries. 

Corporate Worship Children's Ministry

We offer nursery and toddler care throughout the corporate worship service, as well as Pre-K and kindergarten classes that run for the duration of the sermon.  After the sermon, they return to join the congregation for the closing of the service, learning that they belong to God’s people in both worship and life.  Our Corporate Worship Children's Ministry uses the Great Commission Publications curriculum.

We believe children are a vital part of the covenant community and should grow up learning the riches of God’s grace. Children of all ages—from babies through teenagers—are warmly welcomed in the worship service. We delight to see families worship together as we sing, pray, and hear God’s Word proclaimed, trusting that the Lord uses every moment of gathered worship to shape hearts of every age.
